My young children (ages 3,5, and 8) all enjoy this book, and I enjoy reading it to them. It has a theological depth to it that sparks wonderful questions and discussions, and it does a fantastic job of explaining things to make passages more clear. The story of the fall, for example, has an aside chapter that explains the fall of the satan and his angels that clarifies the story. These asides are throughout the story bible, and I have learned things that had never clicked for me before. The detail in this book is astounding. Several times my husband and I have read something out loud in this book and thought, " that wasn't in the Bible!" When we stop to look it up, sure enough, Vis had pulled up a detail that we just never noticed before. The author's respect for scripture and attention to detail shows throughout the book. Vis is also very talented when it comes to making my these stories dramatic and emotional. The stories are engaging, and even my 21st century kids beg for more every night. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

This is a classic Bible-story book, beloved for many, many years and reprinted many times. Deals with events from Genesis through Revelation. Mrs. Vos, the wife of a Seminary professor, knew the Bible well and loved it, and knew children well and loved them. My parents read this to my brothers and me when we were small (I was 5); we read it to our children; and now we're giving it to our grandchildren because these stories just don't wear out. The book helps young children understand the scope and significance of biblical events, not just the familiar stories. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

I cannot recommend this bible enough. We own the Big Picture Story Bible ("stage 1") and the Jesus Storybook Bible ("stage 2") which are both excellent, but as soon as your child transitions out of the need for illustrations, this is the bible you should be using. Beautiful, compelling narration along with biblical accuracy and pointing to Jesus regularly throughout the Old Testament makes this my favorite. My children (6 and 3 years old) love it too. It will carry them until they "graduate" to a real bible-- I'm (gladly) done shopping for children's bibles.

EXCELLENT! Perfect way to teach the actual stories from the Bible to elementary school children. It handles rough situations in the Bible with sensitivity and gentle explanation. Highly recommend to ANYONE with children in 1st-5th grade. We homeschool and it's a daily read for us.

It has taken us 2 years to read thru with my kids now 10 and 8. They have been engaged in these real life stories the whole time and always ask for more. The stories are well written and accurate to the full Bible. Some stories are less graphic (for example the details of story of David and Bathsheba) but the important theological and sin issues are kept in tact. They are not avoided. The book is written as God's revelation to man all pointing toward Christ.

My children are ages 5-10 and they LOVE this story bible! They request it and we have read it all the way through at least three times already. (We read a section or two just about every night and it takes about a year for us to get through it.) The stories are well-written and I like that it doesn't leave out much. I love reading this story bible to my kids.

I was really blown away by the detail included in the stories in this Bible. My children are 3 and 4, so a bit young for this particular one. But it still holds their attention for quite a while. I am very glad I purchased it as part of our library. Often times my 4 year old is very interested in a Bible story from one of our Kenneth Taylor picture Bibles or the Big Picture Story Bible, and I like being able to go to the Children's Story Bible to give him more information. For family devotions, my husband reads directly from the Bible. This book reminds me of the modifications one might make for young ones when reading directly from the Word. Very well done.For those starting out with young children, I highly recommend trying and buying lots of different children's Bible books. I love all the different things that different Children's Bibles incorporate. And I like that the kids are really drawn to all the different ones. It makes reading and talking about the stories and integrating the truths into our lives easier, as opposed to having just one single Bible story book. And the more I've gotten, the more interested my kids are in our family devotion times where we read straight from the NASB.

Nice Bible stories. Pretty mainstream protestant, taking a smidge of poetic license with the stories, but overall a nice book.

My intent is to update this review in a month or two.Results so far? Firmer, easier and longer lasting sexual response, a healthy lowering of blood pressure, especially diastolic numbers, and (I'm pretty convinced) fewer times up to pee every night - I'm checking all this out with my physician, having just swapped out 5 mg for tamulosin.What do I like most about this book? That it's about a helluva lot more than "Go take a pill." The counseling about sex, sexual response, and being steward of a male body is some of the best I've ever read. Thost is an MD who's specialized in male sexual health and satisfaction - and it shows. I'm sure most of this book's audience is male, but I'd recommend it equally for any woman with a male partner of any age, not just older, who wants to understand how men work, and feel, and worry, and have to fight the tendency to go silent around some of the core issues with their sex and their relationships.What else do I like, a lot? The detailed scoop on tadalafil (Cialis), the documented reassurance many men need about safety when messing with their body chemistry, and more, the well-researched potential for positive health benefits that extend far beyond erections. Tadalafil was first developed and researched to deal with several other significant health issues. Discovering the side effect of "Is that a banana in your pants?" was pure serendipity.I promise to return for an update when me and my 'best friend' have a bit more experience under our belts!

Just like in her previous book, she provides clear, concise information, not just about the advantages of a daily dose of Cialis, but also recommendations to improve every aspect of your sexual performance, including diet, sensual exercises and lifestyle. Dr. Erika is not just a knowledgeable professional but a woman who cares about men and how to be our sexual best. Highly recommended!

There is always so much attention on women's sexuality and why there are problems in a relationship, so it was nice to have some attention shifted to men and equal responsibility for sexual satisfaction.

I recommend this book without reservation. I heard Dr. Thost present this material at a private workshop and found her knowledgeable and articulate. Her book fills in many of the specifics and details that I was seeking.

Vitallty informative reading! The book covers every aspect of this issue and will be helpful for many people...I will recommend it to friends and clients! I agree with Dr. Thost that it does not pay to become complacent about our aging. We went right out and bought the product.,..can't wait to feel the results!

The first ~200 pages cover motorcycle technology, back to the first motorized bicycles. The last 100 recount men, memorable moments and important places.Enthusiasts know that building, fettling, riding and racing motorcycles is not enough. To appreciate our sport, we want to know how bikes work, in detail--engines, transmissions, frames, brakes, suspension, tires. We'd like to understand the designs, materials and processes that make winners, on track and in the showroom. We hanker for insights that will help us, as mechanics and riders, to go faster, to keep us out of trouble, to win as racers and to report as motojournalists. We'd like to know more about the sport's great, successful role models.Enter Kevin Cameron, motorcycle polymath. Over the years he has mastered the essence and core values of motorcycling, emphasizing racing, and put it on paper for us. Through his writings we can, in effect, take in and learn essentially everything we need to know about the men and the machines. They show the author as acutely observant, exercising all his senses and appetites to live more fully, assimilating and expressing the realities of foreign travel, food and wine, architecture and ambience, men and their motivations, providing first-hand, historical detail on Doug Chandler, Gary Nixon, John Kocinski and Ago that greatly enlarges our knowledge of these great racers. Try this chapter opening, a personal remembrance of a long-gone Yamaha TD1: "Innocent events sometimes punch through time into the past, leaving us fascinated, surrounding us with the vapors of forgotten feelings." Poetry, matching the man's analytical mind.A bigger, epochal motorcycle book, fully illustrated, lurks behind the writings and books Kevin Cameron has given us. For now, we must take him in bites, but what tasty and tasteful bites! TDC2, essential reading, enhances his oeuvre and has us hungering for more.

Top Dead Center 2I've read Kevin's articles in Cycle World in the past and thought some of them were insightful and useful. Top Dead Center 1 and 2 weren't that interesting, and mainly recollected racing and motorcycles in the past. There isn't much material covering anything beyond 2000 or newer technology. I've never been a fan of older motorcycles, even though my dad encouraged me to learn about them at a young age. I only got interested in bikes after fuel injection started to become dominant in sport bikes. I remember in high school and college when the Yamaha R1 was still carbureted.One article of interest in TDC 2 was a discussion about Japan's rise in motorcycles. The article was talking about how Japan was only known for cheap cameras, toys, and uncreative copying in the 1950s-1960s. This sounds almost word for word the same as a description of modern day China. What do we think of China in the year 2012? They manufacture toys, and almost everything, and are often regarded by the US as being responsible for "uncreative copying". Well, if this was used as a description for Japan in the 1950s, what do we regard Japan in the year 2012? They are known for making precision instruments, the highest quality steels and metals, high-tech cars and motorcycles brimming with the latest in gear especially with motorsports. They are even regarded as being in the forefront of lean manufacturing. That is a significant change from their reputation 50-60 years ago. Perhaps this is where China will end up in the next 20 years?Other than that, TDC 2 was more of the same with some Rossi worshipping thrown in to the mix.Overall: 4/5 stars

Kevin and Peter Egan are probably the main reasons I keep on subscribing to Cycle World.Full disclosure...I've been car and bike crazy since I was little...and now I'm competeing with the dinosaurs on age.If you're one of those piston heads that puts everyone else at the party to sleep while you discuss BMEP with your fellow addicts you'll just love this. Even if you're more into cars or other vehicles the simplified tech lessons layered through the excellent stories are great entertainmment and learning.Even if you're not tech oriented the stories alone are so well written you'll probably enjoy them.This also has a series of his articles explaining the development of racing car and bike suspensions. You will never find a better tech or history reference on this subject. I dearly wish I had access to this level of info when I was first learning these things.

If you know who Kevin Cameron is and have been reading his stuff since you were a kid wishing you had the money to buy some of the bikes he's had, then you'll appreciate this second edition of his writings.I also have the first book (TDC 1) and both of them are must reading for the motorcycle guy in all of us. Just reading the chapter of frame development over the years and how spark plugs REALLY work makes the book well worth the effort to read it.I enjoy his writing style and as I'm roughly of the same age group, I can remember all of the guys he is talking about.A good read for sure.

Some students are easy to manage. Class flows well and they need only the slightest in adjustments to do what you want/need from them. But what about the others? The ones that respond to "Would you like if someone did that to you?" with "I wouldn't care." This book guides teachers and parents in more effective ways to truly connect and work WITH students to create a plan together that is both realistic and mutually satisfactory. Beyond working with students, this is a way to totally change how you think about problems with ANYone and ways to better work through those problems. I read this book on just a little over a day and would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.

Excellent book and sound advice. Every teacher, principal and admin should read this. Great for parents who wants to help their children. If your school asks you what they can do to help your child, hand then this book. There is also website you can go to with free information and videos to follow. I'm a fan!

I am not sure what the other negative reviews on this book are about. I have been a fan of Plan B/CPS since Dr. Greene wrote The explosive child. I have worked in the school setting for the past 10 years and I have been able to implement CPS with a lot of persistence and creativity around an extremely academic setting. It has not always been easy, but that is not to fault the CPS process, just how to maneuver around all the needs in a school setting. I am so incredibly grateful that this new book came out. One thing I have found to be the most difficult is explaining this process to teachers and giving them the language to use in these conversations, as they are so use to using Plan A with kids. The language in this book has improved dramatically and I feel as though I can go back to my school with a clear and more direct way of using this with kids. Thank you!

I love this book as an educator, and as a mom. Have read as a book club at my school, and also sent to my sons' school for them to (hopefully) read. Insightful look at behavior & how we can involve children in the process of identifying concerns and finding solutions that work for all. Dr. Greene's ideas just make sense. Highly recommend!

This is such an interesting concept. I would love for schools and families to take up this plan instead of automatically wanting to label or medicate "troubled" students.

You plug in the citation and Westlaw or Lexis gives you the wrong case instead of GetYourShitStraight. You ask someone else to check and they come up with the same results. You begin to rethink your career choices and then you decide to swap the digits and, bam, the case comes up. Stupid stuff like that. It's happened a few times, but it's gotten to the point where know what mistakes the author makes and I can guess the correct cite. I should probably just get a new book.

This book is a must for anyone interested in an extensive overview of antitrust. All topics (and there are many) are written in clear, clean, and engaging language. All are followed by examples, which I found invaluable. Extremely well organized and thoughtfully put together, this book is invaluable for students of antitrust, journalists who need to understand antitrust law, as well as professionals.Topics covered include predatory pricing, horizontal and vertical mergers, monopolies, monopsonies, oligopolies, and much more. I have referred to the glossary of terms more times than I can count. While educational and instructive, it was also a great read. Thank you Professor Sagers!!

My antitrust professor and casebook were pretty unclear, for me at least. I used this for creating my outline and to formulate my analysis for attacking antitrust problems on an exam. This E&E was really helpful in that regard—but there aren’t many actual examples and explanations, so if you’re looking for practice problems, this probably isn’t the supplement for you. That being said, antitrust law is all about working through an analysis (market definition, market power, procompetitve justifications, etc.) rather than reaching a concrete conclusion, so practice problems aren’t as important as they might be in other courses. This supplement frames the analysis in an easy to understand manner and discusses all the important cases.

After reading this, know less than when I started. Granted I fell down the stairs and my eyes don’t focus right anymore, and they no longer point in the right direction.Strongly recommended. You better order this or else!

I got this book as I felt that I would need something to complement the poorly written and structured coursebook that my professor assigned for the antitrust law exam. This book has been great for that purpose. It's well-structured and does a great job of explaining what the rules derived from different cases in antitrust law are. While this book is somewhat shorter than my coursebook, it still contains all the relevant cases.Although I used this book to help my prepare for my antitrust law exam, I think this also would be a good book to read if you for some other reason want to familiarize yourself with antitrust. The book is pleasant to read and even funny at times, and the chapters are not too long.

Professor Sagers does an excellent job laying out the principles of Antitrust Law.

His eight chapters, mostly war stories, provide meaningful lessons about types of military intelligence, where it can be successfully applied, and how it is limited.The book is well organized. Keegan prefaces each episode with rich background, so that the main activities are clearly understood in context. The background is itself, a short history lesson. Keegan then describes the type of intelligence featured and how it was applied. At the episode’s conclusion, Keegan analyzes the value of the intelligence in that particular situation.Keegan’s episodes span across history from Napoleonic times through World War II, revealing the wide applicability of his lessons. Keegan then adds a chapter on intelligence since World War II. He concludes with an overall analysis on the value of military intelligence.Surprisingly, Keegan concludes that in war, intelligence often fails its expectations. Information about the enemy, his location, and his plans is often either difficult to obtain, misleading or misinterpreted, or less important than the forces being employed. Even in the Battle of Midway, a near-perfect case where broken codes revealed the Japanese fleet’s intentions, the ultimate victory owed much to chance.Not everyone will be tolerant with Keegan’s thorough development of his episodes, but few will be disappointed with his attention to detail. His lessons are instructive and his revelations bring his scenes to life.

As a history major who served for 30 years as a field artillery with 12 years overseas including a combat tour in Vietnam, I have read and enjoyed several of John Keegan's books. As a senior officer, I had tours of duty as defense attaché at our embassies in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and New Delhi, India. I thus have some idea as to how information is acquired and processed into actionable intelligence. Following my Army career, I taught high history for 13 years including a course on Military History.The first eight chapters, including Napoleon, Stonewall Jackson, wireless in World War I, and four examples from World War II, were insightful concerning how intelligence has been collected, used, and misused. As an American, I particularly enjoyed the chapters on Jackson and Midway.The Epilogue, "Military Intelligence Since 1945," seemed rushed, as though the author was under pressure to quickly complete the book and turn it over to the publisher. The coverage of the Falkland War deserved its own chapter. Since Al-Qaeda was included in the title of this book, I was disappointed that it only received two pages in the Epilogue. Perhaps, the author was trying to make the book more relevant to today's reader with the title.The Conclusion, "The Value of Military Intelligence," was too long and seemed a bit pedantic in comparison with the rest of the book."Intelligence in War" deserves a place in the library of serious students of military history.

This is a very diffuse book taking far too much verbiage to make the authors point. The admiral nelson Mediterranean debacle made a point but it should have been made in a few pages. Likewise Stonewall's valley adventures could have occupied <¼ the space to the advantage of the book. ( However, I must say that this is one of the best accounts of the campaign I have encountered.) The entire book would be much better if it was more to the point and less wordy. He left out Yardley's contribution and Hoover's reaction which had major consequences. He deals only consequently with the mideast post the Gulf War and he leaves out the impact of modern real time intelligence.His point that intelligence is a tool and not a decisive victory is well made. As is his secondary point that covert action needs to be separated from intelligence gathering.

Sir John Keegan, the defense editor for "The Daily Telegraph" and one of the foremost military historians writing in English today, has turned his attention to an important but regularly overlooked topic--the role of military intelligence in combat operations. He argues that political intelligence is an ancient craft that goes back almost as far as recorded history, but military intelligence has until the last 200 hundred years or so had limited impact on the battlefield due to the technological challenges of getting information to a commander and then to units in the field. Intelligence was mainly the work of scouts.In a series of case studies starting with the naval operations of Lord Nelson, Keegan argues: "Intelligence, however good, is not necessarily the means to victory; that ultimately, it is force, not fraud or forethought, that counts" (p. 334). Two of the most striking examples he uses are the battles of Crete in 1940 and Midway in 1942. At Crete, the British had accurate signals intelligence telling them what the Germans were going to do and they still lost. At Midway, the Americans had equally good information on what the Japanese intended, but random chance was the key to U.S. victory. The American planes that sank three of the four Japanese carriers were lost and found the enemy fleet by accident at a time when their defenses were ill prepared for another attack.These arguments are important. We use this book at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College where I currently teach. Keegan's ideas are revisionist but also seem straight forward. The title is accurate. This book focuses only on military intelligence in war. The subtitle is a bit misleading. There is next to no mention of al-Qaeda in the book. Keegan is an exceptionally easy read, but he raises some significant questions which is always a good combination.

I read this book to my students after observing seashells. I chose to read it after because while observing, they had some questions, such as why some shells had holes in them, and this book answered those questions! It could be used either for children reading on their own, or as a read-aloud in class. The pictures are big and colorful. It's a wonderful book with great images and information for all ages!

Great photos, informative at a level my 3 year old could understand and I even learned a thing or two. My 3 year old is obsessed with seashells and is been wanting to buy this book a while. It didn't disappoint!

Fabulous pictures and great non-fiction text perfect for young children! My students love finding the shells in our collection that match the pictures in the book....thanks!

I learned so much about seashells!

I read this book to our first and fifth grade science buddies. Suddenly my students were bringing in shells and egg cases from the beach to share and classify. Emily Morgan has a way of drawing all children into the awe of science around them. It gives them an appreciation for the wonders of nature all around them everyday.
