This is one of the best World of Darkness supplements ever. I know the system has been basically abandoned and resold a hundred times in the last 10 years, but it stands the test of time very well. This supplement gives background on everything in, under, or on the big blue wet thing one can imagine. New monsters, new NPC options, new character options and story hooks. I've used tons of material from this one book probably more than any other book (other than possessed, midnight circus, or book of the wyrm.) So much great information and at a ridiculously low price now.
This is one of the best books White Wolf put out during the old WoD line. Useful for every genre int he WoD, and rich with truly interesting story kernels. Nothing is explored so deeply as to kill creativity and flexibility, and there's just enough crunch to keep it relevant. Honestly, this was a perfect sourcebook for me, and, like a reviewer above, it changed the way I ran all my games. Now the blood dimmed tides are an aspect of every White Wolf game I run for sure, and are frequently a source of terror in other games.I very strongly suggest this book for anyone that runs any sort of modern horror type game. Truly good stuff.
When I first saw this book on the shelf of my usual retailer (at that time), I wondered what it could be. I wasn't sure to buy it, but I took a chance, and did so. From the beginning on, it felt really interesting. Who hasn't ever heard stories of ghost-ships? Then, as a Werewolf storyteller, I wondered about the Rokea (at that time their book wasn't out yet). The book grew more and more interesting, and even when I'd never before run chronicles "on the sea", I did so from then on. The book also features the incredible Gangrel Aquarii or Mariners, which are a really interesting bloodline of the Gangrel clan. So, if you liked "Deep Rising", "Jaws", "Moby Dick", and others... you'll probably like to tell your own stories on the furious seas of the World of Darkness.
A cheeseball, badly written, absurdist play in twinkery, this supplement is an insult to gaming in general. Avoid at all costs.
