This is the awesome fourth book in the Carolina Connections series. I am always ready to read the next story in the series as they are fun to read and always guaranteed to bring a smile to my face. I started from the first book and have now read all four. They can be read as standalones, however, I suggest reading them all in order. I found that it is a smoother experience and also the characters overlap from one book to the next. This book is all about Gavin and Emerson. Gavin is a man who has done a lot of growing over time. He is getting his life together and moving forward. His life may not be on the same path as before however he is determined to grab onto the opportunities that have been put before him and move on with his life. Part of this determination is spent on pursuing Emerson. Emerson is a woman who plans to go far in life. Those plans don’t include going out with Gavin. When he asks her out on a date she declines. He keeps asking. What does she do now? I loved the bantering back and forth between Gavin and Emerson. There was flirting and humor which made me laugh out loud. Emerson is a person who worries more than she should. She is attracted to Gavin, however, she is focused on her reputation in the law firm she works for and that Gavin is younger than her. I was of the opinion that she needed to start having more fun in her life and Gavin was just the person to have that fun with. The secondary characters who are friends and family of both Gavin and Emerson are also amazing. They are the kind of friends that would do anything for one another and if one needs help they do not hesitate to act. This author has created stories that you can get lost in with characters that are not easily forgotten. I can’t wait to read the next book! This story does include mature language and sexual content. This would make it a book for those 18 years of age or older.
The fourth book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart is The Game. The featured couple in this installment is Gavin and Emerson.Emerson is a 29 year old up and coming lawyer who has recently been tasked with becoming the guardian of her younger brother Jay. Emerson and Gavin meet when she signs her brother, who happens to be a phenomenal baseball player, up for lessons at the training complex where Gavin is a coach. Gavin is aware of Emerson right from the beginning and starts to chase her knowing that he wants to get acquainted with her better. Emerson has other plans she needs to focus on her job, her brother and not some “young†guy.I really love this series by Sylvie Stewart and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite new authors. While you can read this as a standalone it is so much better with all the backstory. I enjoyed this book and seeing all the old characters, I had some laughs at their expense that’s for sure. This installment had it all; there was laughter, happiness, anger as well as poignant moments. Although I do have to say that there were a few times that I wanted to tell Emerson to stop whining over Gavin being “youngâ€, heck I know men that are in their forties that behave worse than Gavin was written to act, other than that it was a truly entertaining story. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Stewart has up her sleeves for the next book in this awesome series.
This book is so funny. It's true Sylvie Stewart style but she's at her best and brought her A game, pardon the pun. I was cracking up and the story is really sweet. It's the perfect blend of wild fun and sweet romance with tons of laughs along the way. I closed this book and thought, dang! Girl went and done it again! You go Sylvie! You go straight to your computer and write another! This series is awesome!!!
Spider monkeys? Now that is a first! If you don't know what I am talking about them read The Game, or better yet read the whole darn Carolina Connections series. All I can say is you won't regret it. Unless you don't like to laugh with your romance.
I think of all the books in this series this is the one I like the best[ the one I read first actually!]. Its Sweet and has much more of a story that the others in my opinion, quite an enjoyable read
This whole series was great and unlike most other series the further you got into it the better it was.I cannot wait for the next book to come out, I am absolutely getting it.I would HIGHLY recommend this book and series.
This is the second book I have read from this author and I must say I am growing to be a fan.Her style is exactly what I look for in rom com:Flirty, a bit of that nice slow burn and just basically good writing all wrapped up in a good story.Check check and check.
Very entertaining. Made me have a wide smile though the whole book. Loved the way Emmy expresses herself in her so called colourful language. And Gavin is a man on a girl mission. They are made for each other!
