If you are willing to buy only one book for ECG learning, this book should be it. Rather expensive compared to other introductory text, but every penny you invest will count. I have tried a few introductory text to master ECG, but none of them was as easy and applicable as this text. The author is a paramedic who became physician, and he presents difficult concepts in easy way so many allied healthcare providers who doesn't have medical degree can also utilize it. ECG is complex and daunting subject to study for new learners, but by the time you finish this book and if you read it front to back carefully, you will realize you actually can read ECGs.

Great book. I've read Dubin's, and this is the next step up. If you really want to get a good grasp of EKGs, you should take the time and sit down and read through this text. Has different levels for each EKG interpretation so you can read through multiple times and take away more from each EKG every time. Can honestly say I've learned more from this book than any other EKG book/teaching module. Takes a bit longer than some of the other books but it is WORTH IT! I can now do a quick interpretation of most EKGs I encounter (which includes calculating the exact axis and z-axis) in under 30 seconds! I still have much to learn and look forward to re-reading this book a few more times!

If you want to really understand EKGs and be a complete boss whenever an EKG needs to be read, then get this book. I do not like the "review" style books even though sometimes they are necessary if you are short on time. But if you have the time, and really for a book as great as this you should make the time, then get this and truly understand EKGs. I hated the feeling of trepidation when seeing EKGs in the past. Now I see them and it's actually "fun" and I feel confident rather than apprehensive. 5/5

I purchased this book on accident not realizing it wasn't the full version and only an introduction. I have the "arrhythmia recognition" version of this book and it worked very well for me throughout the cardiology portion of paramedic class. I purchased this after paramedic class to further my knowledge. From what I read from this book it was just as good as the basic version. If you're going to spend the money to purchase this book, just spend the money to purchase the full version.

Three books in one--from elementary to advanced 12-lead. Start at level one, then advance. Learned much that was not taught in paramedic class.

This has got to be the best EKG text around. After nearly 30 years as a Cardiology RN, I am still amazed and surprise by learning even more about what the "average" EKG can tell me about my patient's status. This book has become one of best tools, in reviewing, teaching and sharing with my co-workers and students. Well done!

This book is the best EKG education I have ever found. I recommend it to everyone and have read it several times. I'm always learning something each time I read through it again.

I'd give it higher rating but felt it was overpriced (60 bucks or less would have been more appropriate )

I actually really love the bullet format of this book. The author uses several symbols instead of plain bullet points to help indicate to the reader which items are more important. The book contains many helpful, concise charts. I only gave four out of five stars because I have two complaints. First, the CD is not included, but I am uncertain whether this is because I purchased mine used, or if it is because it is always sold separately. There is a phone number provided near the beginning of the book to order a CD. My second grievance is this book only covers breeding to pregnancy diagnosis, there is nothing about parturition or post-foaling.

I ordered this book on Amazon and it is a wonderful book, but it does not come with the CDrom that it references so much in the book. When you order this book make sure that it includes the CD rom as it is about impossible to get the CDrom separate. The book is a great book, but what a ripoff to not include the cdrom

This is the best, most complete and easy to understand book! Buy it!

This book does have useful information, but the way it is formatted makes it difficult to understand. The book does not flow, the information is written through a series of bullet points. There are chapters, so you can go to the subject you want to learn, but within the chapter the information is not organized in a typical "textbook-like" way. Maybe if it wasn't such an in depth topic some bullet points would be beneficial, but hundreds of bullet points just make it harder to learn. Some people may prefer the way the book is written, I find it more of a hinderance then a help. Although it is written more for a vet than a student.

I used this book for an introductory class to Race, Class and Gender at my university. I have read more than 60% of the book and almost all of the articles were enjoyable, especially those in section 6, which cover several author's personal experiences with racism. I have taken a few classes that have discussed these topics in the past, but not to the extent that we covered. This book is highly valuable to those interested in learning about race, class, and gender in America. Some of the articles I had read before, but the fact they were included in the text only highlights their validity. It has also been helpful in my daily conversations with people, and I tend to reference information from it. If it weren't so expensive, I would purchase my rental for future reference.

Book and class were really fascinating but my rental book was falling apart when I got it! I didn't have time to return my initial rental to get a new one because I needed to read the book for my assignments but I had to tape a bunch of pages back into the book because they kept falling out. There was also some sticky residue leftover from another student's sticky notes they must have put in the book, so a lot of the pages were stuck together the whole time. I almost bought my rental because i loved the book so much but Amazon was trying to charge me like $40 for it and I personally don't think the condition is good enough for that price. Hope everyone else has a better rental and enjoys this book as much as I did!!

The textbook came in good condition, practically brand new. Content-wise, the book is set up in a simple way that is easy to understand, go through, and have plenty of resources.However,I am giving 2 stars because the book is misprinted; there are 40 pages missing and another 30 pages are printed twice. So, it does get in the way of reading for classes and studying for tests.

Systemic racism and how its rooted into many institutions. Most of the chapters are all short 1-3 or 5 page stories that do hit "Race, Class, Gender, and Some." Some "chapters" were extremely liberal...but that was due mainly to the author for those stories. So think of it overall as a collection of stories. If you're looking for voices from narratives you normally don't see at the front of Barnes & Nobles (i.e., young girl's version of life in WWII Japanese internment camps), then this would be a good start.Some of my classmates were angry and uncomfortable. Great! That meant the reading wouldn't be too boring. Made me uncomfortable as well reading stuff that many choose to ignore/or refuge in it being in the past. Others started to use the usual political rhetoric/charges to defend either why the book wasn't great to them, to what they "really" needed to learn, etc. If a book holds info about race, class, gender....in the United States...expect multi-cultural/intersectionality/and your stuff to flip.This ain't some textbook mentioning a few things, some dates, and where we are now for $30.Unfortunately, you're probably going to learn a few things.

This is a great book for people who are uneducated in the inequalities that exist in America. This book was a requirement for my first class discussing issues such as these. I was very fond of this book. I took this class with no history of discussions with issues that this book discusses. I feel the book presents writings that are really easy to understand, even for people who don't have prior knowledge on these issues. If you want to learn about issues on disparities in America, this is a great book to start. It isn't intimidating in anyway.

I read the previous edition of this book in Spring of 2004 for one of my Enlgish courses in college and it literally changed my life in many shapes and forms. My intellectual knowledge has expanded tremendously on the issues of gender, racism, racial prejudice, ethnic cultures, sexism, and classism thanks to this great scholar book. On my 22nd birthday I was given this new edition and I am glad a new edition was released with more updates and information.I recommend this book to any person interested in those issues and concepts that shape our everyday life and our sociological evolution as humans. I am a university student of history and I have found this book to be a valuable tool for research papers and self-education.I strongly recommend this book. If you are willing to read on the social issues that are absolutely necessary to understand our political, social and economic system, please read this book.

For someone who is novel to a PC or MAC this book still has value. It is very apparent that it was written ten years ago. Reflecting on this it was interesting to see how many things are still valid but also what has become obsolete. It must be noted though that the underlying message is still valid. The book is well written and reads easy. However, it is also strongly US oriented with all examples and references restricted to one country. I would have appreciated a more international approach. An updated version with a wider geographic spectrum would be a great addition to this topic.

I have never been moved to write a review before, but I feel it is my civic duty to warn people away from this book. I am enrolled as an online student already and bought this book because it would supposedly give me tips for developing a good study schedule and, well, be a successful online student. The publisher is misleading customers by putting a big red burst on the cover that says "Learn how to set up an independent study schedule and stick to it" (did they READ this book before designing the cover??!!). This book contains nothing of the sort. The 33 pages (of 266) that are actually dedicated to coursework are almost insulting to read. For example, some of the "helpful tips" include: "you will want to have moderate experience with using a computer" and "you need goals and focus." The author then gives a website to visit for "specific information" on things like study skills and time management. This book will NOT help you be an effective online student. It might help you decide whether or not to become an online student, which is the only reason it gets a star.

it needs to be updated. My copy of this book is helpful but I find that there are websites that no longer work and some of the information is outdated as well. Much has happened in the online world since it was written so I came to Amazon.com to see if there was a newer updated version that I could buy. Alas, there seems not to be one.

I have read both books previously and published reviews of them, so I'm keeping this review shorter than normal, in an attempt to highlight what might be important for prospective readers.WRITING & EDITING: Professional. The flow is good and the quality of the plot and so forth is sufficient that one is able to suspend disbelief. Of course, if nothing else, the last two years has proven that most anything is possible...BLUSH FACTOR: There are a very few eff-words, less than one per hundred pages. For me, this was not an issue, since I believe the word is used to establish the authenticity of the characters and the times they reflect, with good effect.STAND ALONE OR CLIFFHANGERS? Buying this version, this is a stand-alone with no annoying cliffhangers.EXCERPT:'...The trucks before her twisted and swerved to dodge the bullets, but dead bodies hindered their speed and maneuverability. This is the same story set that I bought and read some time ago, but with a different name! The story and writing are enjoyable enough, so if you like this kind of story, it is good, but I don't want to buy the same books twice. I even checked my listing of books I already owned before purchase and this was not in it. Yet, when I began to read it, I discovered that the content was identical to a past purchase by the same author. If you're going to change the name, at least include something like "formerly published as..." and list the old title, so that nobody is misled.

If you are looking for gore, this is your book. Otherwise don’t bother.

The plot is good, the action great. A few surprises thrown in, keeping you reading way past bedtime. Unfortunately, there are SO many spelling errors, missing words, or incorrect words used, it became annoying, distracting, and downright frustrating. i’m guessing this is the publisher’s fault, not the author’s, though I would have rated it much higher if not for that.

I just finished the third book of the six that make up this box set. For starters, it was hard to stop reading. The action sequences were nail biting, and created a desire to skim read to hurry up and find out what happens. It's entertaining, full of suspense, and worth reading. The issues are things like an early description of a flag blown by an autumn breeze, but everything else referring to spring. The interaction of military personnel with each other was full of BS, on par with bad B movie. There seemed to be almost ZERO understanding of firearms - also on par with a really bad B movie. And many of the action scenes and plot lines were VERY cliche and predictable. The upside is they were pieced together in a can't-put-it-down series of well written events. It won't be a chart topping best seller, but if you ignore the minor flaws, it's a fun journey.Edit: I've finished the second half of the box set. The second half is a much better story. Very intense, and a great read... Except... If the author has an editor, he needs to fire him, if not he needs to get one! I can't tell if the second half is the same event, told from a different perspective and characters, or if it's an independent story starting with a very similar EMP event. The timeline is fall instead of spring, like the first half, and there are still A LOT of errors regarding guns - a. 38 special doesn't have a clip to drop to see how many rounds are left, etc. And the typos, missing words, and similar mistakes as so frequent in some places as to become distracting. One chapter in particular was downright annoying. And early on, it's September, but 24 hours later, in the story, it's October 21st. But... If you can look past that, this is one hell of a story that's hard to put down. With decent editing, this could actually become a superb book, that could top the charts in its genre!I recommend that you give it a chance and look past the errors. As long as you are prepared for them, you won't be disappointed.

Maybe it's me but details can be like a thumb rack in my shoe. A good story, good main characters, strong descriptions but there is no such thing as a .38 magnum and 44 is a revolver cartridge so there is no magazine to hold 10. Little things like that drive me nuts.Also some of the supporting characters sometimes don't react in realistic ways. That being said in glad I read them.

Extremely unrealistic to believe one sargeant doing all of this basically by herself. I will no waste my time reading any further.

Attached to this review will be a silent flip-through of the entire coloring book and some photos so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it will work for you.This is a beautiful coloring book based on the HBO series. There are a total of 35 designs (many of them are two page spread designs.) It is in a much larger format than most other coloring books at 11.5 x 11.75 inches. The designs are by artists Allan Jefferson and Adriana Melo and are based on photographs from the series. The styles of the two artists mesh well making it a very seamless looking book of elegant and well-drawn illustrations.The subjects of the designs are noted on the far left and right margins, so if you don't recall who/what, it is there to remind you. The designs themselves are quite detailed and have many intricate and small areas to color. Because of this detail and intricacy, it is not a book that I would recommend to anyone with fine motor or vision issues.The book has the same lush elegance I have found in the cinematography of the series. Both my husband and I have our own copies so we can each enjoy coloring the wide variety of designs. I think it is an excellent coloring book for fans of the series while at the same time equally great for others who don't watch the series but like the fantasy aspect and the elegant artwork.What I didn't like was how many of the designs spread across two pages. In my book, a number of those pages didn't line up very well. I still really like the book but that issue keeps me from loving it.This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing it with my coloring medium:35 Game of Thrones inspired designs from the HBO series22 of those designs spread across two pages and have elements which cross into the bindingPrinted on both sides of the pagePaper is white, heavyweight, slightly rough and non-perforatedSewn binding (several pages can be removed at a time by snipping the threads.)Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paperWater-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens did not bleed through nor did I have discernible shadows on the back of the page.Colored pencils worked very well with this paper. I tested both oil and wax based pencils with good results. I was able to get good, deep pigment. I could layer easily (both same and different colors.) Blending was also excellent using a pencil style blending stick.

This book is fantastic. The artwork appears to be computer generated line art from actual stills and photographs from the TV series. So many of my favorite characters are included and there are also great depictions of King's Landing, Winterfell and Braavos. The book is also very large (11.5 x 11.6 inches), for comparison it is larger than Johanna Basford's books, Animorphia and the Daria Song books by about an inch on each side. The paper is a slightly off white, smooth light cardstock style. I only use colored pencils so I can't speak to whether markers would bleed through but the paper is very similar to the other better quality books I have. The pictures are printed on both sides of the page, with quite a few double page spreads. My only, only gripe is that with the double page spreads sometimes the subject is very close to the center (for instance in the picture of Daenerys with the Unsullied Army, Dany's shoulder is right in the crease). Very slightly annoying but the pictures are so great I'm more than willing to overlook that. The book also contains depictions of Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Melisandre, Brienne, The Hound and Oberyn Martell and others, as well as castles, the Night's Watch, and the Night King with his army of White Walkers. If you are a fan of this series I couldn't recommend this book any more highly!

Beautiful, huge book. Wish the drawings were on their own pages and not back to back. Love love it, my first picture,

The drawings, while fairly intricate, have areas that you can't tell what's what, like where sky meets trees and land, it's all jumbled and loosely rendered. It looks like someone scanned a photo and used a photoshop filter to make a line drawing out of it.

The designs are beautiful, but they are almost all two pages, with the focal point (center) of the design right in the crease of the spine, making it difficult both to color and truly appreciate. Flawed layout. Disappointed.

For those of you who got the first Game of Thrones coloring book and complained that the images were not of people from the HBO series, here's your book with the images like what you would expect from the show. This book is huge in comparison to my other books like Johanna Basford and Millie Marotta. The paper is white, fairly thick and good for colored pencils. I have only tested colored pencils (because that is mainly what I use) and the paper allows for several layers of color without issue. The images are on two sides of the paper and there are some double page spreads that go right into the gutter. The style of the lines for the images are much like the first official Game of Thrones coloring book. If you aren't sure please make sure to check the Look Inside feature and see what I mean. All in all I am pretty pleased with the book and only took off one star for the images going into the gutter.I will add pictures of the pages I have completed with time.

This is a really nice coloring book. The only problem is that I'm used to really simple, rather juvenile coloring books, which do not require a lot of detail work or shading. For me, a completed page on this coloring book looks really lame unless you have an eye for detail. It's also bigger than the average coloring book (and square). I bought it because I am completely obsessed with Game of Thrones, but when I started the first page, I discovered the style really isn't for me.It seems strange to say this about a coloring book, but I would term this one "not for beginners," in that it requires more than simply drawing inside the lines to look decent. For me, it was less relaxing than the coloring books I usually get, and unfortunately went back on the shelf unfinished.
